Cochise County, Arizona
Location: The property is located 8 miles south of Highway 80 at Apache, Arizona, which is 40 miles northeast of Douglas, Arizona, on a graded ranch road in Cochise County, Arizona.

Real Estate Taxes: The Cochise County 2008 Real Estate Taxes are $1,975.82. The Cochise County Assessor's Parcel Numbers for this property are: 412-46-001, -011, and -012.
Historic Site: On September 4, 1886, the Apache warrior, Geronimo, surrendered at this site at Skeleton Canyon. Geronimo had fled the San Carlos Reservation with 143 followers in May of 1885 and waged war on U.S. citizens and Mexican citizens for over a year. "Geronimo and his band killed 75 citizens of the U.S., 12 White Mountain Apaches, 2 commissioned officers and 8 soldiers of the regular Army, and an unknown number of Mexicans" according to James Hurst. Geronimo's surrender marked the endo of the American Indian Wars in the United States. Geronimo surrendered to General Nelson A. Miles at a spot just south of the Rick Snure house. The soldiers piled stones to mark the location and the monument is just outside the fence around the Rick Snure house. From this spot, Geronimo and several others were taken to Fort Bowie. On September 8, 1886, Geronimo was put on a train headed east under heavy guard. Geronimo lived to the age of 79 and died in Fort Sill, Oklahoma February 17, 1909.
Improvements: The property includes the headquarters of the Skeleton Canyon Ranch and the Rick Snure house and barns. The headquarters consists of the main house, constructed in 1926 with 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, approximately 1,800 square feet, an 800 square foot hay shed, a 672 square foot tack room and horse corrals. The Rick Snure residence, constructed in 1979, has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, approximately 2,393 square feet, a tack room and corrals are also located on the property just north of the surrender site.
There is a well that provides domestic water to both residences and to the barns and corrals. There is a roping arena and cattle working pens on the property.

Water: There are 3 wells registered with the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) on this property. The ADWR provides the following data on these wells:

55-628682 - 420' deep with 7" casing 420' pumping 6 GPM from a water level of 280'.
55-628688 - 100' deep with a water level of 90'.Elevation: The headquarters is at an elevation of 4,668' above sea level.
Climate: The average annual rainfall, as reported at Apache, is 18.23" annually.
Vegetation: This property has Skeleton Canyon running through it on the south end with Sycamore trees, Arizona Ash and mesquites. The north section has mesquites, gramma grass and lovegrass on it.
